Dr. Michael Bull, CIO
We are pleased to introduce Dr. Michael Bull, the Chief Investment Officer and Fund Manager of Hawthorne Asset Management. With 32 years of financial industry experience, Michael brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our investment team.
Michael's academic background is in Theoretical Physics, with a Doctorate from Oxford University's Balliol College and a First-Class Honours Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Physics from Birmingham University. He also spent a year studying at Cambridge University and was a post-doctoral research fellow at Harvard University before embarking on his career in finance.
Throughout his career, Michael has held various positions as a fund manager, investment strategist, and product specialist. Before joining Hawthorne Asset Management, he was a Global Investment Strategist and Product Specialist at LPS. Prior to that, he was a Fund Manager at Optimus Capital, and before that, he held positions at Altana Wealth, InvestQuest Capital, and IV Capital Ltd as a Fund Manager and Investment Consultant.
In addition, Michael also worked as a Portfolio Manager at Soros Fund Management, where he managed the Quantum Endowment Fund, and as a Global Investment Strategist at Paribas, Bankers Trust, and Dresdner Kleinwort Benson.
With his extensive experience in managing funds across various asset classes and regions, Michael brings a unique perspective to our investment team. His investment philosophy centers on a bottom-up approach to stock selection, focusing on companies with strong fundamentals and growth potential.
Outside of work, Michael enjoys spending time with his family. He has two daughters and is actively involved in various community initiatives.

Anthony John Morgan, CEO
Anthony John Morgan is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in the asset management industry. As the CEO and co-founder of Hawthorne, he has played a critical role in the growth and success of the firm since its inception in 2011. With a focus on compliance and risk management, Mr. Morgan has helped to establish Hawthorne as a leader in the industry.
Prior to his work at Hawthorne, Mr. Morgan held senior positions in asset management businesses throughout the Asia Pacific region. He served as Head of Sovereign and Institutional Clients, South Asia and as Chief Operating Officer, South Asia at JPMorgan Asset Management. In these roles, he gained valuable insights into the asset management industry and developed a deep understanding of the complexities of working with clients across multiple geographies.
Throughout his career, Mr. Morgan has demonstrated a commitment to excellence and a passion for delivering value to clients. He has served as a director of licensed asset management entities in Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Singapore, and Thailand. This extensive experience has given him a unique perspective on the global asset management landscape.
Mr. Morgan is a highly educated professional with a diverse set of qualifications. He holds a law degree from Macquarie University, a Master's in Law and a Master of Taxation from the University of Sydney, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of London. He has also been admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia.
Overall, Anthony John Morgan's expertise and experience make him a valuable asset to the asset management industry, and his contributions to the success of Hawthorne have been instrumental in establishing the firm as a leader in the industry.
